As a kid in the backseat of the family car, I entertained myself with endless narratives about the old houses, barns, shops, abandoned cars, and random farm equipment scattered along the landscape. That fascination never left me. When I take to the road now, my trips are all about small town detours and spending as much time as I can on side roads, gathering my “stories” to paint. It’s a miracle to check-in to a hotel before nightfall. I find it extraordinary to consider that my family has had its roots in Colorado for six generations. I can’t help but think I hear the deep echoes of my ancestors in the landscape. I feel privileged to live and have raised my own family here.
